Green Space

Miramar faces pressing environmental and social challenges linked to its lack of well-maintained green spaces. A significant area of undeveloped land lies at the heart of the neighborhood, privately owned but poorly managed. Rather than serving as a vibrant community space, this land is neglected, overgrown, and inaccessible to residents. This absence of stewardship leaves a critical void where a central green space could provide a unifying hub for recreation, relaxation, and environmental management.

The area’s three-month rainy season brings heavy flooding, exacerbated by the lack of landscaping or drainage solutions on this land. During the nine-month dry season, the terrain becomes a dusty, barren expanse that does not provide shade or relief. Proper management of this central space could transform it into a critical resource, enhancing biodiversity, mitigating flooding, and cooling the neighborhood. Instead, its neglect symbolises a missed opportunity for Miramar to develop a shared space that could strengthen community ties and promote environmental resilience.
