Gilberto Arias is a Senior Advisor at Energeia, a network of researchers and climate change negotiators. A former diplomat, he has worked with and continues to engage on multilateral climate change negotiations having worked with a number of delegations, including Panama, the Dominican Republic and the Marshall Islands, and their extended alliance network, while also doing extensive policy writing and advisory work on trade, climate change and the sustainable development of the international maritime transport sector. Alongside policy work, Mr. Arias also works on implementation initiatives among public, private and non-state actors in high ambition contexts, focusing on energy, energy efficiency, urban planning and implementation, agriculture, water, and cooperative arrangements, all in the nexus with sustainable low-carbon development.
