Community
Without accessible public spaces to gather or engage, residents are left isolated, retreating into private lives that offer little opportunity for collaboration or shared purpose. The lack of cultural, local economic and social infrastructure reduces the neighborhood to a space of transience. A dormitory town (one where people sleep but do not live and act within). This characteristic of lifenesses creates an environment where there are few daily rituals and little symbolism that can be painted onto the streetscape. Ideas of relationality, creativity and agency do not exist within the community. Furthermore, the absence of vibrant communal activities, such as festivals or local traditions, has stripped the community of its vitality.
